Introducing Heart Healthy Foods

The heart is the most vital organs for humans. Healthy heart will result in quality of life better. However, not everyone has a heart condition that functions perfectly.

Unhealthy life can trigger a variety of diseases. Heart disease most commonly found are coronary heart disease, chest pain (angina)

Coronary heart disease is heart disease which many sufferers the most. This disease attacks the blood vessels and can cause heart attacks. A heart attack caused by clogged arteries that impede the distribution of oxygen and nutrients to the heart. However, not all heart disease caused by blood vessel problems.

The heart that beats too slow (below 60 beats per minute) is called bradyarrhythmias. While above 100 beats per minute is called tachyarrhytmias. All the disorders are usually caused by heart disease and usually are inborn.

Although many kinds of heart disease, but particularly heart disease caused by blockage of blood vessels can be overcome or avoided by eating foods containing fiber. Another thing that is also important as lowering blood cholesterol levels is by exercising regularly.

Heart Healthy Foods – What Is It?

Various studies show, eat fiber foods can reduce levels of bad cholesterol (low densy lipoprotein / LDL) in blood. If the blood levels of LDL in the low, heart health becomes more secure.

Oats or wheat fiber is soluble fiber that can lower LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) without lowering HDL (good cholesterol). That way, oatmeal is good for diabetics because someone who has consumed this fiber, the sugar level is low.

High LDL is the main cause of increased cases of coronary heart disease. Although pharmacological therapy more quickly to lower LDL, with wheat cereal consumption is more healthy and without side effects. But it takes time.

Oatmeal is a good source of nutrition because it contains vitamin E, zinc, selenium, copper, iron, and magnesium. Oatmeal also can be a good source of protein for the body.

Other fiber sources, in addition to wheat, can also be found in avocado, grapes, apples, berries and citrus fruits. Avocados contain antioxidants glutathione and monounsaturated fats. This substance is useful to neutralize free radicals and fat, both of which are destructive in the body.

Grapes contain flavonoids, such as catechins quercentin and can prevent bad cholesterol oxidation reactions, accelerate blood flow, and reduce the formation of plaque in blood vessels. Grapes also contain vitamin C that can neutralize free radicals.

An apple contains a lot of pectin, the type of fiber can help lower blood cholesterol levels. Pectin binds cholesterol that comes from food, such as from milk, meat, and eggs.

Green leafy vegetables are also rich in flavonoids, such as bean leaf, papaya leaf, leaves, cassava, sweet potato leaves.

Soy proteins also contain fiber, vitamins, and minerals that are healthy food ingredients to the heart. A diet rich in soy protein can lower triglycerides, which helps prevent cardiovascular disease and keep the heart to stay strong and healthy. Soy protein is also good for those who have high cholesterol because the protein-rich soy poliunsaturated fat, fiber, vitamins and minerals.

Health experts recommend, not just the food that must be observed in maintaining heart health, exercise regularly, not smoking, and controlling stress are a few things. So, keep your heart health.

Healthy Food Snacks

As I find myself getting nearer and nearer to the 50-year mark, I think it is time that I start thinking more about healthy food snacks.  As the half-century mark (boy that sounds terrible) approaches, the situation may seem dire but to tell you the truth, I feel terrific!

I do however know that even though I feel great and currently enjoy good health, the habits of years past might come back to haunt me physically.  If I do not take steps now to deter future health issues it will be pretty much my own fault.  After all I alone control what I put into my mouth to eat.

In years past I have not always had the best nutritional habits.  I was on the road a lot traveling for work and more than once I ate a couple of king-sized candy bars from the gas station instead of planning out a meal or taking some time to find a healthier alternative.

Now that I am older and wiser (older anyway, I am still working on the wiser bit) I am trying to make better nutritional choices. I am opting for healthy food snacks instead of the sugary quick fixes.

This transition is not easy.  I have found that like a lot of people I am addicted to sugar.  There I said it I am a sugar addict.  If you have ever tried to wean yourself away from using or consuming sugar I am sure you have found it difficult.  It is hard to quit cold turkey.

I read somewhere that when your body is craving those sugary sweets that what you are really craving is natural sugar.  Natural sugar can be found in natural foods such as fruits.

Fruits are my secret weapon to combat my sweet tooth.  I must admit that an orange or banana isn’t quite the same thing as a peanut butter cup and although it is not as sweet it does help curb the sugar craving.

As time goes by and you have stopped eating refined sugar, food sources containing natural sugars will seem sweeter to you than they did before.  Once you have reached this point I would try to add a whole grain snack bar to your healthy food snack arsenal.  Be careful though make sure you read the ingredients.  Kashi has a great assortment of good tasting bars.

These whole grain bars will not spike your sugar levels and won’t leave you tired one hour later like sugar sweets do.  They are also a good source of protein and fiber.  Just make sure to read the label.  Again you are responsible for what you eat not the marketing companies trying to sell all of the horrible products out there.  Take the time to be a smart and informed consumer.

So there you have it my take on healthy food snacks.  I think we all know that it is easier to eat badly but the fact of the matter is that it will catch up to you physically.  Become informed and make healthy choices.  For great science-backed information about becoming healthier and fit poke around at http://EasyFitnessAndNutrition.info also be sure to download the free report too.

Zeroing In On The Cholesterol Healthy Foods You Should Be Eating

Cholesterol healthy foods are something that everyone interested in lowering their cholesterol levels should be interested in. After all, it is not like we have to book a trip to a tropical rain forest located on the other side of the world to pick up our list of cholesterol healthy foods. In fact, they can all be found at our local supermarket or superstore at affordable prices. But the key to cholesterol health foods is simply knowing what to put into your shopping cart on your way to the checkout isle.

Cholesterol healthy foods

*Oatmeal and oat bran: Oatmeal and oat bran are two of the best sources of cholesterol lowering soluble fiber. The reason soluble fiber is such a big deal is that it absorbs cholesterol in the digestive tract like a sponge, mopping up that waxy substance before it has a chance to take up  residence inside the arteries. Other great sources of soluble fiber are beans, barley, whole grain products, and apples or pears.

*Should I be going nuts for nuts?: Certain nuts such as walnuts, almonds, and pecans are high in polyunsaturated fatty acids such as alpha linolenic acid (a good fat), and have been shown to significantly reduce blood cholesterol. They also seem to help arteries remain pliable, which is a major concern especially for those showing the early signs of atherosclerosis. But one caveat is their calorie content. According to the container of mixed nuts on my desk, a one ounce serving contains 310 calories. So if we are going to go nuts we must do so in moderation.

*Your ticket to lower cholesterol might have just swum in: Cold water fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, sardines, anchovies, and cod are loaded with cholesterol lowering omega 3 fatty acids. According to the AMA two servings of fish are recommended weekly for heart health. But the truth is that not everyone can afford fresh salmon twice a week and if your current financial situation represents this reality then a fish oil supplement could be a good alternative. Additionally, despite the recent reduction in the number of ounces,  canned tuna is still a good value  and contains a respectable amount of omega 3 essential fatty acids.

*Olive oil: Olive oil has been a centerpiece for the Mediterranean diet for centuries and is a heart healthy alternative to cooking with butter. It is also a great substitute for high fat, high cholesterol, salad dressings and butter. While it is a valuable substitute for high fat options it also has the added benefit of lowering bad cholesterol. Virgin olive oil seems to produce the best results with the FDA recommending two tablespoons a day to capture its heart healthy benefits.

What else might help? Many have found that by combining cholesterol healthy foods with natural cholesterol reducing supplements they have been able to achieve even better results. If you have been searching for a side effect free way to speed your results natural cholesterol reduction supplements are an option worth considering.
